For you Secularists, the Didache was a Training Manual used by the Early Christains which almost mistakenly became part of the Bible.

Huckabee has gone too far! Even Rush is getting ticked off with him. I would not mind the word getting out that many Christains wouldn't mind seeing Huckabee being on the business end of a Christ-Peddler attack for giving Christianity an unnecessarily bad name.Moderate Democrathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16381814290849260701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3526275581987963914.post-26474850355704067932007-12-17T13:55:00.000-05:002007-12-17T13:55:00.000-05:00Well said, Dave, and as for the war on grumpiness,...Well said, Dave, and as for the war on grumpiness, i can't wait to back the political figure that takes it on! ;)Radical Remindershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09155472776262393597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3526275581987963914.post-24495528838061239892007-12-17T12:35:00.000-05:002007-12-17T12:35:00.000-05:00thanks for commenting! My main...Mike Huckabee scares the pants off of me. My main issue is a dual one: abortion and taxes. This man is so willing and able to make sure that the right to have an abortion is overturned, but wants to remove any governmental support once these babies are born? Go to his campaign website and read about his idea of a flat tax...not only does he not bother to fully explain his plan, but uses throwaway filler like "When the FairTax becomes law, it will be like waving a magic wand releasing us from pain and unfairness." Eliminating all federal income and payroll taxes is his main goal, followed by replacing said taxes with a consumption tax on the purchase of new goods (meaning we have to further deplete environmental resources to make more goods). He uses more awful rhetoric like, "Expert analyses have shown that the FairTax lowers the lifetime tax burden of all of us: single or married; working or retired; rich, poor or middle class." Where does this information come from???? I'm so tired of smoke and mirror politics from shady characters like Huckabee...and I realize that I'm not the most competant fiscal mind, but when a presidential candidate writes that our economy suffers because of our tax system, I have to laugh a little. He writes that our massive deficits are a result of governmental over-spending...in other words, he wants to continue spending lots of money fighting the "war on terror" (ps. I can't wait for the war on grumpiness...), but wants to cut spending at home by reducing the flow of money through taxation. So, lets bring lots and lots and lots of babies into the world and then refuse to help them with any governmental support. Maybe we should just separate everyone into populations according to economic stability and build really big castles to keep out the poor. Furthermore, what happened to good Christian beliefs about helping the poor? How will this help the poor??? Ok, last bit. The man makes no bones about his faith and its influence in his life. He also misquotes the first amendment...ouch. Here's the real first amendment (thanks to wikipedia): "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Huckabee instead claims that the first amendment requires "that expressions of faith be neither prohibited nor preferred". Do those two statements say the same thing? The real amendment is in place to protect religious beliefs, not authorize their placement in the sphere of government. I realize that our nation was built on government, but the idea was to keep government separate so we don't end up like England with a state sponsored religion. Furthermore, I also agree that lots of bits of the constitution seem contradictory regarding religion and politics, but the spirit of the document was to protect rights, not provide an opportunity to enforce belief. And finally, while I'm on the subject, please stop bringing up the damn 2nd amendment. Every election season certain things are trotted out like a dog-and-pony show, and the
2nd amendment needs to have some real discussion. Here are the real words (again, thanks Wikipedia): "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". So, when Huckabee talks about keeping concealed weapons licensed and supporting assault weapons, he really wants a population armed. His interpretation of the 2nd amendment is about "tyranny and self-defense...the Founding Fathers weren't worried about our being able to bag a duck or a deer, they were worried about our keeping our fundamental freedoms". The language strays so far away from the purpose of the
2nd amendment, which is to keep a Militia "well regulated". So, letting everyone walk around with assault weapons and concealed guns is his version of "well regulated"?....uh....

Sorry for such a long post, but this guy really burns me because his veneer is so shiny but his insides are so rotten. Please please please don't let this guy get elected. Or make the cover of Newsweek....ok, too late for the latter, but maybe not the former.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18362855432777852631noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3526275581987963914.post-69794668165795609572007-12-17T10:27:00.000-05:002007-12-17T10:27:00.000-05:00For the truth about gay marriage check out our tra...For the truth about gay marriage check out our trailer.
